National Celiac Awareness Month raises awareness on Celiac Disease
   
WHAT: In honor of a national initiative to raise awareness and promote resources for Celiac Disease, local entrepreneurs kick-off the second annual, Keep Austin Gluten Free Fair during National Celiac Awareness Month in May.

On May 28, local doctors, food vendors, pharmacies and trade associations, will be present to have fun while addressing a serious, yet little known illness called Celiac Disease which affects one in 133 people; nearly three million Americans nationwide.
 
WHO: World Wise Grains and Food for Life Gluten Free Restaurant pair up to play a crucial role in educating Central Texans about Celiac Disease and its cousin, Gluten Intolerance.

WHY:

Research has shown that a timely diagnosis of celiac disease is essential to treating or preventing its complications. Kicking off the second annual, free for everyone, Keep Austin Gluten Free helps educate people about symptoms as well as offer recommendations and solutions on how to live a gluten-free life.

A portion of this year's proceeds from the Keep Austin Gluten Free Fair, will be donated to the Alamo Celiac organization, the local chapter of the Gluten Intolerance Group or GIG.
